Tax Return on the Use of Heavy Vehicles on Highways (Form 2290)
The Tax return (Form 2290) on the Use of Heavy Vehicles on Highways, was designed so that anyone who drives a vehicle with a weight greater than 25,000 kg, that is, 55,000 pounds (pounds) on highways or roads can request your tax refunds.
Also known as FHUT or Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax, it is declared annually. It is a requirement to have an EIN # to file with the IRS this form.
UCR (Unified Carrier Service)
Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Program.
is a program that replaced the (SSRS) Single State Registration System. it is federal and mandatory. The UCR Program requires individuals and companies that operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate or international commerce to register their business with a participating state and pay an annual fee based on the size of their fleet. This includes carriers private, for hire or exempt.
BOC3
The designation of a process agent is a requirement to obtain the authority to operate from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). A process agent must be physically located in each state in which it is authorized to operate and be available at that address during normal business hours.
Motor carriers submit the BOC-3 and the submission must be done online. If you are a broker or carrier without commercial vehicles, you can complete the BOC-3 online or as a hard copy yourself.
Biennial update MCS-150
If you are an owner operator or the owner of your own company and you have a USDOT number, you are required by the FMCSA to participate in the biennial update, f you don’t update your MCS-150 form every two years your USDOT number will be deactivated, you also have to report changes

Permits
If you have a vehicle that exceeds 26,001 lbs you must obtain permission to travel through the states. The permits can be temporary which are valid for up to 3 to 10 days or you can obtain annual permits, which expire on December 31 of each year.
EIN #
Also known as the federal tax identification number, it is used to identify a business entity. Generally, businesses need an EIN. The EIN # is issued to be used for tax administration purposes only and should not be used for other activities (ex: auction due to tax lien, sale, lottery, etc.). This number is also required if you must file 2290 Form.

The International Registry Plan is a mutual agreement between the United States and Canada. They are assigned payments based on total distance in active jurisdictions. According to the registration plan, the owner must report annually all the mileage driven by jurisdiction, and must pay a tax.
